John Robbolino Jr.
Master Artist Bio
Was born in 1957 in Lodi NJ, and I was introduced to art at a very early age. My family, were emigrants from Italy, Napoli, and Calabria region. As a young boy I was always interested in art, My mother was artistically inclined and always encouraged me to draw and paint. We had a few family members that worked as artists in cartoons, and children books. As I grew so did my love for art. I’ve always dreamed of being an artist for Disney Studios.
I grew up in a very interesting time when careers where changing and headed in all different directions. I decided pursue a career in commercial art and honed my talents to grow as an artist. I learned from fine teachers, which actually worked in their field and recognized that I had the love and potential to grow into an accomplished artist. As it turns out they were correct; I won the Craftsman Art Fair in NJ. For 2 years in a row in 3 different categories pen and ink, illustration, and realism and even received a letter from Disney Studios for the opportunity to attend the Disney school in California.
Unfortunately my destiny was altered and would have to wait for my opportunity again but it would never come to pass.
It was not until many years later, when I was working as an electrical sign technician that he walked into the studios of Outdoor Billboard Company called: Gannett Outdoor and became determined again to be an artist, that I would really perfect and achieve a real command of my artwork there.
Honing my talents and diligently working in just 4 years I went from the level of First Year Apprentice to a Grade A Master Pictorial Journeyman Artist. The company tested me rigorously for one full year until I was promoted to the level of Grade A Master Pictorial Journeyman Artist. At the time I was the youngest to ever reach that level. I became one of the top leading Grade A Master Pictorial Journeyman Artist in this company and in the United States for Gannett Outdoor. After 10 years my chapter would end there but another chapter in my life was about to unfold.
I opened my own company, combining talents of the past into doing Artistic work for interiors. Soon I found myself immersed in interiors and I became very successful. I was master Artist on the Second Largest Mural (15000 Sq Ft ) at the time on Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City New Jersey. I was awarded a Citation from the Major of Jersey City Bret Schindler for doing the Mural leading as Master Artist on the project. After a few years I heard Florida was booming and decided to take a chance and re-open my company under a more appropriately name called: Bella Villa Artistry and practiced actively in New Jersey and Naples, Florida traveling back and forth. I started to become well known and doing homes for many prominent clients and designers.
With enthusiasm I was creating an old art form but with an exciting and unique composition all at the same time, with an unparalleled respect to Art called: Altorilievo, (The High Relief) infused with hand blown glass, very unique!! Each piece is a Handcrafted Original Piece of Art even if it is in a series of a particular subject; they may vary because they are all handcrafted.
I have also been re-establishing himself as a canvas painter again and doing more commissioned art. I decided to expand even more and evolved into another chapter in my life. Always thinking to improve myself and grow as an artist. My Art work has also been shown in galleries such as: Astoria Gallery in New York City, Macaya Gallery in Miami, Art and Antique Show in Boca Raton, Art and Antique Show in Naples Florida, Emillions Art Gallery 5Th Ave. in Naples, Florida Galleria di Coronari Roma, Italy, Galleria di Via Flavia and I have also had exclusive shows with success. At one Point I had opened up my own Place called: Robbolino Art Gallery in Naples, Florida for a few years before the downturn in the economy.
I believe that integrity and the love for my work is the driving force in which inspires me to achieve in all my work, experiences and client relationships. I love to do commissioned pieces and watch the clients light up as the art piece is developing and when it is installed in their home. I’m always on a quest to expand my reach to new places and hopefully I will continue to grow.
I have been to Italy and other parts of Europe many times over the years and each time I travel it provides me with new inspiration and a yearning to create something new. My work has been shown in Galleries in Roma, Italy. My wife and I have now decided to start a new chapter in our lives and now share time during the year in Florida and Giove, Italy just outside of Rome. It’s a very exciting time for us in our later years. I have been invited by the Prestigious Lions Club in Italy to join the Exclusive Club and I have donated a painting Titled; “Contadina” That was auctioned off as to help raise money for a charity in Italy. I am continuing to establish myself as part of the community to grow.
I will leave you this in which I truly believe in: “There is a piece of every artist in each piece of artwork they create; it is not only a moment of time but a feeling in which the artist tries to transcend of themselves in their work”. John Robbolino Jr.
